Berlin - These are his first public words after the larynx surgery four weeks ago!
Rock star Bill Kaulitz [18] of “Tokio Hotel” has his voice back and that his fans can now finally breathe again!
Bill thanked exclusively on BILD.de in a personal speech to his fans for all the devotion during his vocal cord illness. Today at 1pm, you can watch the video with Bill on www.bild.de.
Bill looks healthy and fit. His voice sounds powerful and happy again just like before the operation.
He says: “Hey people, it’s me, Bill. I wanted to say thank you again for the support you have given during the time I had this with my voice.”
He continued: “I’m especially looking forward to catching up on the concert in Germany in Dortmund.” The concert will be played there on the 13th of June.
Over tomorrow, “Tokio Hotel” will be on their way to America. They’ll be introducing their CD “Scream” [”Schrei”] to their US Fans, which will be in stores on the 2nd of May. Apart from a concert in Los Angeles, 11 sold out concerts had to be cancelled due to Bill’s voice rehabilitation.
However, more of the “Tokio Hotel” cult of Europe is going over to America. For their admiration towards their favorite band, more US fans are learning German to understand the lyrics to their songs.
The U.S. press is impressed with “Tokio Hotel”. CD reviews in major newspapers and magazines like the “New York Times” and the “Rolling Stone” are euphoric. The beginning of a world career!

“Hey people, it’s me Bill. I just want to say thank you for the big support in the time I was having trouble with my voice. It wasn’t easy and I am incredibly sorry. It was really nice to see that you all stand by me and that you have send me so many things. I was really happy. It is a good feeling know that people are there for you. I am looking for to the concerts and especially the concert In Dortmund that we will play after all here in Germany. It was very important to me that we could play this concert. I have seen that you have been waiting and I am looking forward to see you then and play the concert. Thank you so much. ”

For a while now the Tokio Hotel fans have been confused: Does drummer Gustav have a tattoo or not?
Now it is out: He has one! And two right away! Exclusive in the Bravo, Gustav shows his huge back tattoo and a small one on the arm. And now? The one that always claimed in interviews that he would never get a tattoo?!

“Secretly I always have thought about it,” he admits, “but I was waiting for the perfect image. First I wanted two birds on my shoulder, with a wreath and a sword in their beak. But what kind of mini sword would that be?” the drummer laughs. Then finally my saving came: “I met this really good tattoo guy and told him about my birds-with-sword problem. After that he sent me some sketches.” The 19 year old liked them so much, that even before the rehearsals of the 1000 Hotels European tour had finished in February, he’d run into the tattoo studio to have them done!
“It was really spontaneous, two people from our team went along with me. I didn’t tell the others at first,” he smiles. Seven hours is how long his first tattoo took: four hours for the lines, three hours for the shades and even after that: “It still isn’t totally ready.” The star tattoo on his arm went quicker. “That only took two and a half hours, Gustav tells.

Did it hurt? “Oh yes, it was really painful! The one on his back was especially painful”; according to Gustav. “We had to pause constantly. To stand all the pain I was most of the time biting on my own shirt.” But the suffering paid off. On Gustav’s back you can now see two wings, a sword and a wreath.

And what does the artist want to say with that? “The wings stand for freedom. The sword is for all the bad things that have happened to me – or maybe will even happen in the future. The wreath stands for all the good things and positive achievements: the happiness with the band and my family for example” Gustav explains. Of all people his family was the one that had to get used to the piece of “body jewellery”: “My parents were always against tattoo’s. That’s why I didn’t tell them anything, when I was getting my star on my arm done. But now they like it.”

And what do the other Tokio Hotel rockers say? “They really like it: Bill has gone through the pain himself. He immediately has taken a good look at it. Only Tom warned me: “Man, you know that will never come off?!” Though, that won’t shock the drummer – contrary: he just got a taste for it and wants more tattoo’s: “I will definitely take one more, but what, I won’t tell yet,” Now Gustav is preparing for the trip to the USA. Bill has recovered well from his vocal cord surgery: “during his vocal rehabilitation he is singing his own songs again – and is accompanied on the guitar by Tom,” band manager David Jost tells. How it looks now the band will be on a plane to the USA on 1 May.

I was so happy when I saw Bill's video, he looks so good and cute! It's really a great relief to know that everything is going fine with him and his surgery's recovery!

End of the enforced break for Tokio Hotel singer Bill Kaulitz: Beginning from this Monday the 18-years-old will start to sing own songs “within the scope of his rehab,” bandmanager David Jost said to DPA (German press agency).
The teenie-star had to undergo an operation on his vocal cords at the end of March, many concerts had to be cancelled.Twin-brother Tom shall accompany Bill’s voice practices with his guitar in the next days.
At the same time the management decided to plan only one single concert in the USA instead of the planned tour in May.
Scene will be the “Avalon” in Los Angeles at May 13th, where already the Rolling Stones, Prince and Nirvana performed.

That's really good, I'm so happy and relieved to know that Bill is almost fine!

Gustav & Georg: “The slab is falling down on our heads!”

What are Gustav and Georg doing, while Bill is sick at home? Exclusive in BRAVO are the TokioHotel-Guys talking!

Singer Bill (18) survived the vocal chord surgery good. At the moment, he’s doing exercises, to get his voice fit. Brother Tom (18) is by his side, cares him healthy. But what are doing Gustav and Georg? BRAVO asked ...

BRAVO: How do you feel in the current situation?
GEORG: At the moment I only hope that Bill will soon feel better and that he will be fit soon. I’m really glad, that the surgery went well and that the whole healing process is so great! We’re all good things and want to accelerate after Bill's voice rehab.
GUSTAV: Yes, the worries about Bill prevail. That must be a horror time for him and I admire how brave he is. Otherwise, it's quite good because we have holiday ...

BRAVO: Where are you and what are you doing at the “mandatory break” – how do you kille the time?
GUSTAV: I’m with my family and clear every day my room (smiles). I meet old friends and take this opportunity to do all those things, whereto the time is missing for me.
GEORG: I’m also with my family and let myself cosset. I had recently birthday and there were obviously many family-parties. It's really great, because I finally saw all again. The best gift was of course the message that Bill’s surgery went well and that he is now getting better! That was a real facilitation.

BRAVO: Are you bored sometimes even without this big turbulence?
GEORG: The first days, I only watched TV and spent my time in the bed. And to be honest, I wasn’t bored. But now, slowly the slab is falling down on my head and I could start again. I miss our fans, the concerts and all around it.
GUSTAV: It’s the same by me, even though the silence feels good. The tour ran really great and yes it is just cool, playing drums every evening for the fans! I’m happy when it goes on again, soon.

BRAVO: Who do you meet? Did you even have had time to meet a girl?
GEORG: I could see my whole family since a long time. Otherwise, I’ve met a lot of old friends and was sometimes out, to drink something - and I can tell you, I’ve seen quite a lot of cute girls (laughs).
GUSTAV: I meet many old friends for whom I haven’t had that much time in the past. Now, I also have the possibility, to have time to keep old contacts alive! But I haven’t had time for girls till now - and for women you need time (laughs).

BRAVO: How are you in contact with Bill? Are you writing SMS?
GUSTAV: For Sure, every day. I want to know, how he feels. Especially at the beginning, there wasn’t more then just SMS. And as he was fit after his surgery, we were visiting him of course.
GEORG: Exactly. But in the first time, he needed a lot of silence and he wasn’t allowed to laugh. And I haven’t had spent one day with bill, where he didn’t laughed about me. I better have protected (smiles). I can’t wait to hear his voice - it's already weird. Tom plays the perfect nurse and spoils his "little" brother.

BRAVO: Did you care a lot of Bill and the future of Tokio Hotel?
GEORG: For sure I made myself worries! And, of course, I’m also conscious, what will happen when Bill can never sing again. But I believe, that we four will find all the time a way to continue to make music. But mercifully is Bill on the way of improvement and soon everything will continue as before.
GUSTAV: At the first moment yes, but after we heard, that the surgery went good, I was directly calm down and optimistic.

BRAVO: Do you have fear, that something like this will happen again?
GUSTAV: For sure we hope, that this was an one-time thing.
GEORG: Yes, and we hope, that this will never happen again – above all for Bill.

BRAVO: What are your plans for the next time, in which Bill is at the voice-rehab?
GEORG: I will visit Bill in the next few days and want to help him with his voice-rehab (smiles). Otherwise, I will enjoy the last days with the family and also enjoy the "hotel mama" till the last day.
GUSTAV: It’s also awesome for us, to be cared, even though we are not sick. The only thing that probably will change, is, that Bill will talk to us non-braked on the phone. And that’s what we’re really waiting for!

Cool! The Jonas Brothers visited BRAVO….

“One, two, three”, Nick Jonas ( 15 ) sings and bounces in the BRAVO-editorial office in good mood. So typical! Anyway, where the Jonas Brothers appear at the moment they`re in the centre of interest. Nick, Kevin ( 20 ) and Joe ( 18 ) attract attention everywhere.

“Wow, how cool! This is Tokio Hotel”, Nick screams and points enthusiastically to the big poster of the band in the welcome-room.

Suddenly time difference and the early getting up (6 o`clock in the morning!) are forgotten. “We are big fans of Tokio Hotel. The music is awesome. Besides they have also two brothers – like we have”, Joe thinks.

“We want to meet them at any costs. That would be just sensational,”Kevin admits.

And that is not improbable, because the Tokios just go round again in America with full speed. “We would like to play a concert with them. Then all the girls would freak out double passionately. That would be the mega-hammer”, Joe laughs enthusiastically.

What a cool secret plan! But BRAVO found out more: There are already concrete negotiations! Tokio Hotel shall perform as support band of the Jonas Brothers in the USA - in return for that the Jonas Brothers would perform as support band of Tokio Hotel in Europe. What a hot combination! Complete fan-alarm would be guaranteed.

WEDNESDAY, 16TH APRIL 2008

First of all I want to thank our fans for the “get well” wishes, comments and presents you sent me. It was unbelievable and I could easily open up a pharmacy now. :-) Your support really helped me a lot during the last couple of weeks. Thank you - you guys really rock! Rom is with me and there for me 24/7. Georg and Gustav are coming by on a regular basis to visit me which is great …. luckily I survived the worst part already! The surgery went well and “the ten day ban of speaking” is over! That was torture - you have to imagine not to say a single word and not even to laugh for ten days!!! Now my vocal rehabilitation starts - but I don’t want to complain! I’m just really happy that the surgery went sooo… well and that the doctors tell me that everything will be fine! I’m so glad that I’ll be able to return on stage soon to play all the upcoming summer festivals.

He has pulled down his cap over his face and is hiding his eyes behind massive sunglasses.

We are seeing the first picture of Rockstar Bill Kaulitz (18) after his surgery 16 days ago. The singer of the succesful band "Tokio hotel" is escorted by two security guys from his hamburger house to a limo. Then his driver takes him of to Berlin.

"Bill is going back and foward between his Hambrug and Berlin house at the moment", tells his producer and manager David Jost. And his fans can soon finally breath again. His voice is coming back!

Jost: "His voice rehabilitation is going according to plan. After doing some voice execises for the last couple of days, Bill has hummed his first tone.

When will Bill be able to get back on stage?

David Jost: "On 3 May Bill will sing his first concert at a festival in New York since the surgery". In Amerika it is going sensational for "Tokio Hotel".

On the big music channel MTV the band is having the most played video since two weeks with there English version of the hit : Ubers ende der welt" ( Ready, set, go). In the Canadian charts the album has gone into the top ten.

David Jost: "Bill can't wait to get back on stage again. He has never had such a long singing break. He is totally going crazy from impatiance."

Tom [18] and Bill Kaulitz [18] from Germany’s most successful rock band “Tokio Hotel” have moved from Hamburg to Berlin! Producer and manager David Jost confirmed to BILD: “Bill and Tom have gotten themselves a further residence in Berlin. They often have things to do in Berlin and slowly can’t see anymore hotels. Therefore they also wanted to have an apartment here in which they can feel at home.”

Tokio Hotel previously came down to stay in their favorite “Ritz-Carlton” on Postdamer Platz while in Berlin. Lastly for the Berlinale.

BILD found out: Bill, who had to undergo a vocal cord surgery [BILD reported], is said to do his voice rehabilitation in Berlin.

David Jost: “Since we are producing a third Tokio Hotel album in Hamburg, the band will continue to keep the studio-apartment in Hamburg.”

The boys of Tokio Hotel have very fond memories of Berlin: While shooting the video for their super hit “Der letzte Tag” in 2006 on the roof of the Friedrichshainer Kosmos cinema, hundreds of fan girls gathered up. Most of them half naked with their declaration of love for Bill and Tom drawn on their breasts – soon they will at last see their heroes again…

His first word was “Ahhhh.”

10 days after his operation, the Tokio Hotel singer is allowed to speak again. The doctors call it a “successful surgery” and in a month, Bill [18] can sing again.

His first word was “Ahhhh.”
…and then he tried “one, two, three.”

Day 10 after the vocal cord surgery of Bill [18]. The day the Tokio Hotel singer was waiting for so he could speak again. But, how easy is that after not speaking for so long? B.Z. asks.

The first word that Bill said to begin with was a very careful and tentative “Ahhhh..” followed by a sound check-like “one, two, three”, tells his manager and producer David Jost [35]. He carefully tapped his way through, and thankfully has no pain anymore according to Jost.

However, the teen idol has to stick to the strict rules from the doctors. “Bill has to continue taking deep breaths and has to talk very carefully and as less as possible. Bill isn’t allowed to talk on the phone at all,” tells Jost. Still, little Bill is an ambitious little guy: “Bill wants to get back on stage as quickly as possible, and is in my opinion putting too much mental pressure on himself.”

The schedule was already fully planned out for the next few weeks. However, Jost is a thoughtful manager: “To take the pressure away from him to give him more time to recover and for his voice rehabilitation, we postponed the appearance on Conan O’Brien from the 28th of April to the 9th of May. The concert on the 1st of May in Washington D.C was cancelled and the signing session in the Virgin-Mega-Store on Times Square we’ll be moving from the 29th of April to the 6th of May.”

The first short performance of the band will likely be on the 3rd May in front of about 30.000 people at the Bamboozle festival in New York.

“Tokio Hotel” fans can sigh with relief.

Manager and producer David Jost: “Bill’s talking-ban is over, but for now he should only speak very little, carefully and softly. Bill can’t phone at all yet.”

And: He’s formulated his first words! Jost to BILD: “The first thing Bill said was a soft but very clear “Ah”, and then he carefully counted to three.”

Despite good progress, the 18-year-old however, has to completely re-learn how to speak; he must get used to it step by step.

His manager, “Bill can’t talk longer than two to three minutes in a row at the moment.”

And there is still a ray of hope for “Tokio Hotel” fans: The cancelled concert in Dortmund will likely be postponed for the 13th June. This was announced by the management of the teen band on Thursday.

Finally there are some good news...I'm starting to get really happy again!

Exclusive! Here writes the sick Bill!

For days trembled brother Tom (18), the band colleagues Gustav (19) and Georg (21), as well as thousand of Tokio-Hotel-Fans around the world for their Bill Kaulitz (18). But now the singer has his delicate vocal chord surgery survived well (BRAVO reported). 45 minutes long in the University Hospital Hamburg-Eppendorf, had the specialist doctors operated the Tokio-Hotel-Star. A so-called cyst on Bill's vocal chords was removed. "The surgery passed systematical. You can't say at the moment, if the surgery was successful. But the doctor is very confident...", says band manager David Jost. Because after the surgery, Bill isn't allowed to speak, sing and to laugh, for ten days! A tough time for the else so palavering, laughing and singing Magdeburger.

"You can't imagine how difficult it is, to be silent", writes Bill now in the exclusive letter, to the BRAVO-readers - directly from his sickbed. Because already one day after the, for him frightening surgery, Bill was allowed to go home. There he gets cared now around-the-clock from his twin brother Tom (he even cooks for him - Bill writes, what he want to tell him) - a real help for Bill. Because no other human being is as close to him as Tom. And the thousands wishes of BRAVO readers give him much power. "I want to let you know, that I am okay," says Bill therefore personally in his letter. "Thank you for everything - you are truly the best!" But when Bill will be quite fit again, is still totally unclear. The first concert is scheduled for 1st May in Washington on the tour schedule, but the next appointment is already the major US-talkshow "Late Night With Conan O'Brien" on 28th April. But if Bill isn't really healthy, these dates get also cancelled. So that he gets really fast healthy, Bill is going after the speaking-ban into a voice- rehab. Under "singing-therapeutical aspects" will be his golden speak- and singing-organ back quite fit. The german worldstar doesn't have so much fun to do this training - but to be able sing well, he would do everything. Hardly to come up with, if Bill would sing now different - or even worser: he could never sing again: "My voice is everything for me! Without my voice and my music, I wouldn't be the same Bill anymore." And finally no one want that. Because the fans all over the world, love him that way. Now everybody have to wait, what will happen, fingers crossed and for Bill plenty rest: Even listening to music is not allowed - because when singers hear a melody, they sing the song in their subconscious. And that claims the vocal chords. BRAVO wishes good recovery...

What should I say - I am truly overwhelmed! Your sympathy, your many gifts and encouraging words made my last days really endlessly easier. For sure, I had fear because of the surgery, with general anesthesia and all the trimmings. But Tom was the whole time with me, which was a real help. Shortly after I woke up from the general anesthesia, I've had wrote my friends and the family and our team a SMS, that I'm awake again. And of course, I would also like you to know that I'am okay. The doctors said, that the surgery was systematical. But we will all know more details, when the 10 days of not-speaking are over. You can't imagine, how difficult it is, to be silent... I'm even not allowed to laugh! As soon as I know more, I will let you know. Again, thank you for everything - You are truly the best - and we will see us certainly again soon.

How sick does Bill feel?

Due to Bill's vocal cords problems, Tokio Hotel have cancelled not only the European Tour, but also the concert in Washington (1st May).
An autographs session and the performance on a tv show were postponed.
Manager David Jost said to Bild: "We don't want Bill to worry and to feel mentally pressured, so he can have more time for his rehabilitation and voice recuperation."

Huge relief to all Tokio Hotel fans. According to the band's manager, the first performance after the operation to Bill's vocal cords will be on 3rd May.
Motive: The Bamboozle Festival in New York where more than 30 000 persons are expected.
The producer of Tokio Hotel, David Jost said: "Bill didn't oppened his mouth after the operation, but since next wednesday we will be able to speak gradually. Now he's bored but he has no pain."

EDIT: There is a new concert date. The concert of Bologne (IT) was postponed to 11th July in Modena, at Parco Novi Sad.

HI, IT'S BILL FROM TOKIO HOTEL!
I'm still not allowed to talk but I can write so I thought I would drop you a line here at TokioHotel.com to let you know how everything is going!
Most of you probably heard that the surgery went well which was a huge relief for me - I am so happy that it's done and over with now. The doctors tell me that everything will be fine but we can't be too sure whether my voice will sound the same as before....but I am confident that everything will be good!
I am so happy when these ten days will be over and I am finally allowed to talk again. I mean you really have to try to picture not being able to say a single word for ten days.....it's torture! Georg, Gustav and especially Tom are coming by on a regular basis to visit me which is great and helps me a lot....Tom is there pretty much 24/7. Thanks to everyone for all the "get well" wishes - there is so much circulating on the internet that I could basically read for the ten days straight and wouldn't even be able to finish reading all the comments. Thanks for your support - you guys really rock!!!!

Bill talked about his surgery to Bild.de:

Bild: Bill, how do you feel now?
Bill: Well, I felt better but all is well. I am happy because now everything is gone. But I still fear for my voice and the damage that may have been made. Everything in my life revolves around in my voice. But I have no pain.

Bild: How was the experience of the operation?
Bill: While I was being anesthetized, the doctors were all around me and I was afraid that they start before anesthesia do so. The image of being operated before anesthesia doing effect is not very beautiful. But shortly after that it began to have effect.

Bild: How was to see your twin brother Tom after all that?
Bill: When Tom visited me while I was waking up I still had a needle in my arm. Due to the fact that we both hate needles it was difficult not to laugh with it - I haven't even dare to do so. And I also had a horrible white suit and a green hat. It seemed that I had runnaway from a crazy hospital.

Bild: How do you spend your days now?
Bill: Even now I was seeing the film "Interview with the vampire." When I am not seeing DVD's, Tom is always besides me, he always knows what I am trying to say. When someone makes me a question, I look quickly for Tom and he knows the answer. If Tom was not here I would have to write everything.

Bild: How often do you have to go to the clinic?
Bill: I have to go back a few times to surveillance and after that I will begin the rehabilitation of my voice.

Hamburg – Tokio hotel singer Bill Kaulitz (18) is after his surgery on his way to recovery.

“15 minutes after the surgery, Bill is brought in a wheelchair to a room to wake up from the anaesthetics”, tells Bill’s twin brother Tom (18). “Shortly after that I went to see him with my parents. Man, he looked like a was heavinly on drugs, he had totally lost his way.”

Was Bill conscious after the surgery?
Tom: “Well, not really. Because of the anaesthetics he can’t remember the wheelchair or the switch of rooms.”

How does he communicate with his brother Tom?
Tom: “That with writing on a chalkboard didn’t last very long. Bill a very communicative person, normally he talks the entire day with dots or comma’s. A chalkboard just won’t do. Since yesterday he has been running around the house with a writing block and he already has filled it up entirely”.

He breaks his silence

In an exclusive interview with VANITY FAIR, the Tokio Hotel singer reports about his vocal cord operation.

He may not speak at the moment, but the expressions for his words just says it all: Bill Kaulitz [18], singer of the band Tokio Hotel, has exclusively spoken out to VANITY FAIR about his vocal cord operation earlier this week.

Through e-mail, Kaulitz reports about his current health condition: "I was under anesthesia and had a wonderful metal rod shoved in my throat, then had my voice cords snipped around on with small knives. Everyone knows that feeling. Man, I am glad that's all behind me. But I still fear for my voice and I also still feel very guilty over it because of the cancelled concerts. "

After the operation, Kaulitz may not speak for twelve days, "then I have to have voice rehabilitation for the next 4 weeks. I'm so totally up for that!"

Before the surgery, the singer gave VANITY FAIR a detailed interview.
